Want that picture perfect lush green lawn? With the warm weather everyone wants to be spending their time outside enjoying the comfort of the summer sun, but no one wants to lounge on a lawn that is yellow and dry. Now is the time to take up some tips on how to care for this summer!
Tip # 1: Time to Mow!
The number one mistake when it comes to mowing your lawn for the summer season is by cutting your grass too short with dull blades. Leave that grass nice and long. Cutting your grass with sharp blades and leaving your grass longer your soil is provided with shade. This nice shade retains water and prevents weed seeds from developing. So keep that lawn a nice length!
Tip # 2: Kill those Grubs!
The first half of the summer is the primetime for insects such as the Japanese beetle to lay their eggs (June Bugs and European Chafers) and by mid summer these bugs hatch. These insects are detrimental to your lawn and will cause them to yellow and become patchy.
Tip # 3: Water, water, and water some more!
To keep your lawn nice and lush, water that green! When watering your lawn, water early in the morning, despite the common belief of watering at night to fight the heat, this prevents fungal growth in your lawn. Make sure your lawn gets an inch of water per week. Time to get those sprinklers ready!
